An ISIN (International Securities Identification Number) is a 12-character alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies a financial instrument. The first two characters are the country code (LU for Luxembourg, FR for France, DE for Germany…), followed by 9 alphanumeric characters and a check digit.

A CFI (Classification of Financial Instruments) code is a 6-character ISO 10962 code. The first character indicates the category (E=Equity, D=Debt, F=Future, O=Option…). You can filter by CFI prefix — for example "ES" returns all equity shares.
